Atlantica Federation Embassy Spacestations (AFES)

Atlantica Federation Embassy Spacestations (AFES)

Atlantica Federation Embassy Spacestations (AFES) are foreign embassy spacestations that orbit host planets, moons, or planemos. These orbital embassies are the headquarters for Atlantica Federation Ambassadors, Diplomats, representatives, and guest officials. Embassy spacestations may have branch buildings on host worlds, called consulates, in their major cities.

Federation State Agency Representatives

The Ambassador is the highest-ranking diplomat to the host world and is the personal representative of the Atlantica Federation Chancellor. He or she is supported by a Deputy Ambassador, Foreign Service Officers, and specialists from the Federation State Agency.

Embassy and Consulate Security

While the host governments are responsible for the security of Federation Diplomats, representatives, guest officials, and the area around the embassy spacestations and consulates, the embassies and consulates themselves belong to the Atlantica Federation. Embassies and consulates can retain security staff in host worlds. Atlantica Federation Executive Guards (AFEG) are commissioned with protecting Federation embassy spacestations, consulate buildings on host worlds, Federation State Agency representatives, and all guests.

Embassy and Consulate Special Status

Atlantica Federation embassy spacestations and consulates abroad, as well as foreign embassy buildings and consulates on Federations planets, have a special status. Representatives of the host worlds cannot enter a Federation embassy spacestation or consulate building without permission– even in case of emergencies. An attack of an embassy or consulate is considered an attack on the world it represents.

Embassy and Consulate Missions

The primary purpose of an embassy is to assist Atlantica Federation citizens who travel to or live in the host country. Federation Foreign Service Officers also interview citizens of the host world who wish to travel to the Atlantica Federation worlds for business, education, or tourism purposes.

Embassy staff interact with representatives of the host government, local businesses, nongovernmental organizations, the media, and academic institutions, as well as private citizens to increase understanding of the Atlantica Federation and its policies and to collaborate on shared interests.

Embassy staff analyze the political and economic situation in the host country and report back to the State Agency on issues that affect the Atlantica Federation. They help Federation businesses find partners and customers and may train the host government's security and military to support better security in the country. They also sponsor educational, professional and cultural exchanges to introduce emerging and established host world leaders to the Atlantica Federation and to promote ties between Federation and foreign students, academics, scientists, entrepreneurs, political, religious, and civil society figures.
